A bold vision
The creation of Les Cars Olivier
Founded in 1925 by Émile Labayle, the company started out as “Les Autobus de Labayle”, with a regular service linking Monségur, Verdelais and Bordeaux. Émile, accompanied by his daughter and son-in-law Marc Olivier, established himself as one of Bordeaux’s leading coach operators. The starting point of this line was in the heart of Gironde’s capital, on the Place de la Bourse. During the Second World War, a gas-powered coach provided the service, demonstrating the resilience of the company, which is still in business today!
Evolution and growth
Moving to Bordeaux!
In 1961, Marc Olivier took over the business and renamed it “Guyenne Autocars”, moving it to the Bordeaux suburb of Bruges. The business diversifies with employee transport for aeronautical plants such as Dassault, Sogerma and Thalès, while also developing school transport. Marc’s son Jean-Luc soon joined the company and took over in 1983, creating “Cars Olivier”. At this time, the head office was moved to Verdelais, in the south of Gironde, and the business focused on school transport.

The company has been passed down through the generations, with Nicolas Olivier, representing the fourth generation, at the helm today, accompanied by his wife Aude Olivier. Each member of the family has made his or her own contribution, maintaining a corporate culture focused on quality, safety and customer satisfaction.

Expansion and modernization
in Saint-Macaire to develop business tourism
In 2003, the company moved to larger premises in Saint-Macaire, with a capacity of 10 coaches. In 2007, a historic turning point came with a shift towards tourism, coinciding with the classification of Bordeaux as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nicolas Olivier then launched a new dynamic, focused on tourism and top-of-the-range service.

In 2016, Les Cars Olivier broadened its offer to include a vehicle rental service ranging from coaches and prestige sedans to minibuses and V-Class vans in VIP mode. As we celebrate our rich heritage, we look to the future with a sustainable vision, exploring new services focused on soft mobility.

In 2025, the “Maison Olivier” celebrates its 100th anniversary! The Cars Olivier story is one of a passion for transport, a commitment to quality, and a willingness to adapt to customer needs.
